This course builds an understanding of in格式ion technology from a management perspective. 这门课结束的时候, students will have an understanding of the links between in格式ion technology, 商业策略, 业务流程管理, and organizational management dynamics. Three main themes are emphasized: the current market for IT capabilities and services, ways to gain competitive advantage by using in格式ion technology to enable new value-enhancing 策略 and business models and products, and understanding how managers should specify, source, 部署, manage and support their in格式ion technology assets and infrastructure.

This course presents students with material from each of the three areas of Business Analytics—Descriptive Analytics, 预测分析, 和规范分析. Descriptive Analytics will cover descriptive statistics and the exploration of data. 预测分析 will cover regression analysis, 模型建立, 时间序列分析, forecasting and Analysis of Variance. Prescriptive Analytics will cover decision making under uncertainty and risk, 线性优化, 整数规划, 非线性优化, 以及仿真建模. A variety of software tools will be used to analyze data and solve decision-making problems.

This course introduces the role of business analytics in organizations with examples of projects in multiple functional areas, industries and using a variety of analytics methods. This course applies practical methodologies, 策略, and best practices for performing descriptive, 预测, 以及规范分析. In order to support the overall business analytics framework and methodology, this course also includes the use of enterprise level analytics tools and systems.

This course provides students with a theoretical and practical understanding of data mining concepts and techniques; and hands-on experience in applying these techniques to practical real-world business problems using commercial data mining software. 作为一门应用课程, the emphasis is on application and interpretation of various data mining methods using business cases and data.
